Dr. Shannon Barnsley is a clinical psychologist who works with children, adolescents, and families across a wide range of mental health, behavioural, and learning concerns. Based in Victoria, BC with her family, she brings more than 20 years of experience supporting children and teens through evidence-based assessment and support on Vancouver Island.
Her work includes mental health assessment and support for concerns such as anxiety, depression, behavioural challenges, emotional regulation, self-esteem, OCD, and ADHD, as well as psychoeducational assessments to help clarify learning difficulties and school-related challenges. She also collaborates with families, schools, and childcare settings when behavioural guidance and developmental insight are needed.
Dr. Barnsley received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Ottawa and completed her internship in Child Clinical Psychology at the IWK Children’s Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Both her doctoral program and clinical internship were accredited by the American Psychological Association and the Canadian Psychological Association. Prior to private practice, she worked in the Outpatient Community Mental Health Department at the IWK Children’s Hospital.
She is committed to providing families in Victoria, Nanaimo, and surrounding communities with thoughtful, developmentally informed psychological care that helps clarify concerns and create a confident path forward.
